  • Air-gapping

Air-gapping is a process where a computer is isolated from all external networks, including the internet. It is done by using either a physical or logical barrier. The reason is to prevent unauthorised access and/or cyberattacks. As a freelancer, I had one computer that was permanently offline for occasional high-stakes high confidentiality projects that used to come my way (for information about some of the precautions I used to take, check out this post). One customer even used to bring me physically into their premises for some jobs.

Air-gapping still remains very common practice in investigative journalism – as notably featured in Dan McCrum’s “Money Men” about the Wirecard scandal.

  • paired monitors

SDL Studio is a lot easier to use with more monitor area at your disposal. In the office I now have paired monitors – i.e. two screens that are identical in size and setup to one another, allowing me to extend my screen area horizontally.
